The grassy field began to fill as a Cultural Parade with hundreds of representatives from the 9 Alorese Sub-Districts streamed into the stadium, each wearing the traditional costume of their area. There were thousands participating and the arena was soon chokers with colourful attire stretching for blocks and blocks.
Pictured right is a collage of some of the groups represented in the 2006 Alor Cultural Festival.
Thousands of local people and others from neighboring villages and islands watched the proceedings from bleachers and from the streets surrounding the Sports Stadium. It was definitely a huge occasion for these people who had come great distances from their homes. |
