Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea

For 3 months from February 8, 2008 we travelled through the Islamic countries of Oman, Yemen, Eritrea, Sudan and Egypt experiencing a fascinating culture and lifestyle totally unique and foreign to us. The land was desolate and harsh but the people friendly.

We watched our weather windows sailing up the Red Sea  and actually ended up motoring most of the way. At Egypt our engine failed and a frustrating saga unfolded as we struggled to put all the dust, sand and salt behind us!
